Chocolate Coconut Chew Larabar Knockoffs

Long time no chat, huh? I’ve been a little MIA the past two weeks because I’ve been in orientation for my dietetic internship! Woohoo! Things are finally getting started and we begin actual rotations next week. Time sure does fly doesn’t it? I feel like it was just yesterday that I was telling you all about the terror that was DICAS applications and the eternity we felt waiting for our matches. Good times had by all in the field of dietetics.

Yesterday we had the day off from orientation stuff, so on Tuesday night a bunch of us interns went out for dinner at a nearby sushi restaurant in C-Bus. Believe it or not, this was my first ever sushi experience. I know. What kind of foodie am I? I don’t know, there’s just something about the idea of eating raw fish that turns me off. I don’t even love cooked fish that much. So the raw kind just doesn’t appeal to me. But I did try a REALLY good peanut avocado roll and it may have just changed my life a little bit. I even ate the leftovers for a snack at like 10 in the morning yesterday. Second breakfast in the form of sushi. Don’t knock it ’til ya try it guys.

Can we talk about how expensive dress clothes are? I feel like that’s all I spend my money on these days now that I’ve entered the real world so to speak. Nice clothes that I sweat in, nonetheless. Gone are the days of Lululemon being acceptable under all circumstances. I really miss those days already. My friend (and fellow intern) Sarah and I have an ongoing joke about how depressing that reality really is. Is it bad that my ultimate goal in life is to find a job that requires yoga pants? Don’t answer that.

So remember that bike ride I told you about? Well we made it! Granted we were only going 25 miles, but hey small victories right? It was so much fun and so inspiring and I can’t wait to do it again next year already. Can I just ask one question though? Why are cycling jerseys so small? I felt like could have busted out of mine and causes a major scene at any time. No bueno.

Let’s eat, shall we?

Are there chocolate chips in it? I don’t see them in the recipe, but do in the photo…

I’m in my internship, too! Except mine is a MS/DI, so I’ve already got a year under my belt, all classes. I’ve got another 1.5-2 years to go until I finish with both programs. We finally get to start our rotations this semester so I get 10 weeks of foodservice to look forward to soon :-P I hope that you’ll post about your rotation experiences! Which program are you in?

Just got a “real job” and the dress is business – I need to go shopping STAT!

I find all of the best dress pants at The Limited! They are perfectly long for amazons and they are super durable. They can be expensive but they typically have coupons for half off that come out often so you can get a 90 dollar pair of dress pants for 45 which is a steal if you’re wearing them multiple times in a week.

I have all of these ingredients! That usually never happens. So I’m going to have to try these out, thanks Taylor.

First off, this looks amazing. Chocolate coconut has always been my favorite flavor of laras, so I will definitely be trying this soon!

And in regards to your question on whether or not it’s bad to want a job that requires yoga pants, the answer is no. Definitely not . That’s a completely reasonable and normal aspiration…well, I think it is at least. A few years ago, I had to make the transition from working at lululemon to working an office job. Somehow, plenty of CRB’s and wunder unders still made their way into my work wardrobe. So…it can be done!! :)

Thirdly, I’m new to your site but loving it so far. Keep up the awesome work!

I thought I would enjoy buying dress clothes and then I got a job where I have to wear them and now I have the same goal as you… a job where I can wear yoga pants everyday! Congrats on the dietetic internship! I’m planning on going down that road in a few years :)
