So remember last week when I told you guys I received a copy of Danielle from Against All Grain’s new cookbook? Well today I’m here to tell you all about it!
I was beyond ecstatic when Danielle offered to send me a review copy last month, so you can imagine my excitement when it arrived at my door. I immediately began flipping through all the pages trying to decide what I would make first. And let me tell you that decision was a lot harder than it sounds because EVERYTHING looks absolutely amazing! The photography in the book is so incredible and literally had me drooling on the pages. I wish I was kidding. That’s when you know it’s a good cookbook.
Danielle has every recipe you can imagine in this book. From hamburger buns (which I am DYING to try next) to the most perfect looking blueberry waffles I’ve ever seen, to snickerdoodle cupcakes and mint chip ice cream. There isn’t one recipe in here that doesn’t make me want to run to the kitchen.
Everything looked incredible, but I finally decided on the Seven Layer Bars. Oh you guys. You need these. NEED.
I would actually request that Danielle change the name of these bars to Seven Layers of Heaven Bars. Because that my friends, is what they tasted like. With an almond flour crust, chocolate ganache, and CARAMEL SAUCE (yes, caramel sauce) being a few of the key components of these babies, how could they not taste like heaven!?
My family absolutely loved them. Even my father. Who, as I told you before, usually runs far far away from paleo goodies. So that clearly meant he couldn’t even tell these were paleo. I didn’t even have to ask him if he wanted to try one, either. He actually came up and took one right out of the pan. THAT, everyone, is how you know these were amazing.
I honestly cannot recommend this book to you all enough. Especially to some of you who might be new to paleo and are worried about missing some of your old favorites. Danielle has created a paleo version of almost everything in Against All Grain, (even chips and salsa!), and I have no doubt it would help to make the transition easier for many people out there. I love this book because you would never know it was a paleo cookbook until you look at the ingredients. The recipes she shares are all things you would see in any other cookbook, just made with better ingredients that won’t make you feel bad after eating them.
